The Fair Bluff Watermelon Growers Association (FBWGA) prides itself on preserving heritage and cultivating community. FBWGA organizes and hosts the annual Quality and Big Watermelon Contests each year at the Fair Bluff Watermelon Festival. The contests draw a crowd from the community that gathers around in anticipation to see who has been awarded the year’s prizes.
The FBWGA contests rely on donations from small and large businesses in our community to continue this time honored, small town tradition. Sponsorship money is used in many ways including prize money, awards, payment to our judges and more.
How is sponsor money used?
The FBWGA Educational Outreach Program donates juvenile watermelon plants, fertilizer, growing instructions, and contest information to future watermelon growers 18 years of age and younger. By encouraging the youth in the community we are further nurturing the roots of our farming history and the promise of a prosperous agricultural future.
